From a user connected to Exchange 2000 the contact list only involves the following:

Global Address List
All Address Lists
All Contacts
All Groups
All users
Public Folders
Outlook Address Book
Contacts

How do I create a new subfolder, for example, "Internal" to the list that will contain John Doe as a contact?

That is, I want the following hierarchy:

Global Address List
All Address Lists
All Contacts
All Groups
All users
Internal (where John Doe is a contact in here)
Public Folders
Outlook Address Book
Contacts

Thanks

Open Exchange 2000 system manager/Recipients/Right Click on All Global Address List and choose new Global Address List. The Exchange Address List wizard wil step you through the steps of creating a new address list. Once you have added the list Open Recipient Update Service and Right Click on your server and choose update now. Then the setting will immediately go into effect.

I tried this and it does not show up in the address book. I created a new Global Address List called "Insurance" and updates the recipient service and it does not show up in the client's address book.

I have the same problem created a a new Global address list with Exchange System Manager and it does not show on the clients outlook.

The easiest method is to create a new contacts list:

- In your local Outlook, create a new folder under the local Contacts.
- Copy it to the Public Folders thereby making it a Public Folder.
- Give it the appropriate permissions
- Go to the client computers and right click on the newly created Public folder and make it part of the users Outlook Address Book.

TechInNeed, it is almost as trg2d posted.

In System Manager, go into All Address Lists and creat a New list called Internal, NOT in the All Global.
You need to restart Outlook.
The list should then appear in the sequence you asked.

mcnutlaw Why make things complicated when they are simple? YOu can creat a Contacts Public Folder directly in the Public Folders.
