Global address list blank

Having successfully created a GALsync with a remote site using IIFP and configured RUS, the GAL still shows as blank in ESM. However, if you click on preview, all the objects from the local AD, and the sync'd AD are there.

We still have a couple of 5.5 knocking about in the domain, so is it possible the 2K3 servers are referring to those for the GAL instead of AD?
