is it possible for me to give an stand alone sql database an html interface and search for records etc without needing a web server?

Yes you could but the pages would be static. Most developers use something like ASP or XML - where you can see the most up to date info on the fly. ASP is basically HTML with VBScript. If you insist on going purely the HTML route, I believe SQL Server has a few wizards to create HTML pages.

so its possible to do then.
I have a html/asp main page, and would like to click on search field and have return it me fields from the database.
i know this works with a standard web database, but this one is going to be offline. will it work?

thanks for help - its my final year project
