Hi guys,
My boss is wanting to ghost a Windows 2k server with RAID 5 to a server with RAID 5. I have already expressed my concern about doing this as the server in questions has a number of problems in the OS and software installed, but he's wanting to do this. So, anybody have any experience in doing this with Ghost 2003 on a Windows 2k server? I haven't been able to find much help (even a link to here from google brings me to this forum rather than the topic it linked to).

That would depend upon how it was RAIDed. If the RAID is hardware RAID and is configured by the disk controller, then there may not be any problem at all. All Ghost should see while running is the logical volume that the array controller presents to the BIOS. If the array was set up using software RAID (in the OS rather than hardware), then you may have a problem.

In the case of hardware RAID, I would set up the recipient server with it's RAID5 array in the RAID controller's setup, making sure that the BIOS saw a complete volume of the same size as the source system. Then I'd Ghost it over and see what you get.
