Hi, I am putting a proposal together for my boss for our smalll company. We don't build many PC's etc so I want to put the right version of Ghost forward to him, but the main thing is licensing, we want to ghost PC's every now and then (two or three & doesn't have to be at the same time). I am confused between the two versions even after looking at their site, I know Ghost 7.5 corp edition is the big baby of the two, but would that but overkill for our needs and is it a lot more in price compared to the 2003 edition for say a 10 user license? All we need to do is clone a PC to the company's standard build to same time using CD's etc.

Kind regards for your time.

Andy

Ghost 2003 is a personal edition, which allows you to ghost your personal PC. It's more of a backup utility really.

Ghost 7.5 CE is a Corporate Edition, which allows you to ghost several PCs and has DOS support and all that jazz... It's also a full blown Multicast server (if needed). It's for the technical support people who ghost templates and for quick backups before zapping hard drives for reinstallations and stuff.

As of what I see in your description of the task, you will need Corporate Edition (7.5).

If you want to use the personal edition, you'll need to open the case and install a hard drive big enough to hold the image, then move the hard drive over to the computer storing the images. If you don't create lots of images, this is good since you can burn it to CD to restore to computers. And yes, if you are using 2000 or XP, you will want to prep the image to remove the Computer SID or every computer imaged will have the same SID (big no, no).
