Background story:
I've just been told by one of the other admins that they 're supposed to be installing GFI Mail Security on the Exchange servers this weekend (Exchange 2000 btw).

I had the unfortunate task of explaining to them that it wouldn't run along with Groupshield, which I currently have set up, but that we had a choice of anti-virus engines that it could be configured with.

GFI tell me that my existing McAfee site licence is no use and that we'll have to purchase a subscription from them. They also mentioned that Norman and Bit Defender updates are included for the first year.

We'd prefer to not fork over any more money than we have already at the moment, so my question is this: does anyone have any opinions/experience with Norman or Bit Defender that might help me make an informed decision between the two.

I guess I could've made that question a bit shorter, eh. Thanks. :)

I don't use GFI but to protect your mail server for virus new threats, you must subscribe to anti-virus updates. If you dont, you won't get any new updates once your first 12 month subscription expires.

Yeah, I know. I was looking for opinions on Bit Defender and Norman. I've never used either before.

Anyway, I've kept Groupshield - which uses my current McAfee licence - on the external server and told them to only install the GFI software on the internal server.

Should work. Fingers crossed and all that, eh. :)
