Hi,
How do i get my VGA output (on my laptop) onto my TV?
the Tv has Svideo input and also the 3 phono inputs (Red White and Yellow... Thats the audio left and right and video).
Does such a thing as a VGA to Svideo Cable exist or VGA to Video Phono.
I have something to move the music side of things (a headphone jack > 2 phono) its just the image i need. So does a VGA to Svideo or VGA to single phono (they may be called composites)
I have searched through ebay, and the thing i found was a box that would do the job.... but it needed a keyboard power plug guess what... my laptop dosnt have PS/2!
GROANS!
Please Help, if possible links to uk suppliers or US suppliers who export for reasonable amounts.

VGA to TV devices do exist. They take the VGA from your computer and output composit video.

Lots of companies offer an S-video to RCA male cable.
Look on the back of your TV. It is likely you want a cable that does:

. S-Video male to RCA Video male
. Headphone jack male to RCA Audo males

Or just buy an S-Video to RCA female adapter (about US $4), and run three standard RCA male to RCA male patch cables to handle video and the two audio outs. You likely have a cojoned set already with white, red and yellow markings.

My laptop dosn't have S-Video on it... Which is where i have this problem occouring.
I have svideo to svideo leads for my main pc, but the laptop dosnt have any type of Svideo on it.
The only output it has is headphones and VGA.
And the only things i could see that did this correctly were VGA boxes that made a scart or Svideo out the other end
Like this
Now i have seen a cable somewhere that looked asif it was VGA & audio to Scart. Any idea where i would get one of these?

I think you would need some sort of electronic device to go from VGA to a normal NTFS output.

I think you have Windows on the brain, bcastner!

As far as I'm aware there are no TVs formatted with NTFS at the moment. Microsoft has yet to impose its standards on the television world - I think you mean NTSC!

(I know I'm being picky but I just found it funny).

On a more serious note, wantstolearncfm - you need VGA to PAL if you're in the UK. The eBay link you posted looks plausible although as bcastner mentioned, I would have thought that some electronics would have been required to convert the VGA signal into a usable TV-compatible one. It's a cheap cable and the seller has pretty good feedback though so you may as well go for it.

At the school system I work at we use something called a TVaitor which looks just like what you have on ebay. It allows for the standard vga out to plug into the box which then uses RCA (red, yellow, white) out to the tv. Its about 5x4 inches and dose require a poer plug. It's not very clear but dose the trick for a classroom power point that isn't too detailed. If you looking to use your tv to play games or write papers, this might not be for you just because of the clairty issues.
