Getting Modem info

Can anyone help with this one?
I have a Zoom 5510 adsl modem attached to pc via usb. There is a program running in system tray called GSICON.EXE that reflects the link status of modem for the user. I need some way of extracting that message in vb so that my program, which is a status monitor, can detect when the link goes down, so I can change over to a backup isdn link, then change back when the adsl link comes up
