Getting IP Hardphones to work on 9.2 1

Could anyone please help me out on the following:

I've been trying to get 4612 IP Hardphones to work on a G3siV9.
The CLAN and MEDPRO are properly configured, (node-names, IP-interfaces etcetera) but getting the phones to work is still a problem. While booting, the phone display gives an "unknown TFTP error". The TFTP-server seems to be configured properly and I both tried 1.1 and 1.51 firmware. I'm on a loss here. Anyone experience on this one?

Is your DHCP server setup correctly? You might want to enter all the IP information manually on one phone, this is how I discovered my DHCP server wasn't delivering the TFTP address.

but I entered the IP-addresses manually, because indeed, the DHCP-server did not work properly.
Any other ideas?

The phone MUST contact the TFTP server at least once before it can boot. If you are using the TFTP software that Avaya provides, watch the TFTP server and see if there is any activity. The error you are seeing usually means that the firmware is not present or the script file is missing in the TFTP server. Also the DHCP scope MUST provide an option 176 to the scope for it to work. The option tells the phones what the c-lan board IP address, udp port 1719 for communication to the server (only option) and the TFTP server location. If the DHCP scope is programmed, active but the phones do not work you need to set up the option. The

has a document called the Lan Administrators Guide that details out all the necessary informaiton. I would suggest you go to the web site and give it a try. I will give you the DHCP scope setup. Hope this helps.

I've solved the problem. The IP-phones could not reach the TFTP-server on a different subnet.

Just for curiosity, I assume you added the IPhelper address (if you have Cisco gear). Correct?

Nope,

No Cisco Equipment involved. Just put bot the phones and the TFTP-server on the same subnet. Kind Regards,

FYI. TFTP server does not need to be on the same subnet as IP phones. You may have a routing issue from your tftp server to the subnet of the phones.
