Hi,
I am building a new PC based on an ECS P4S5A motherboard (SIS 645/961 chipset) running a P4 1.7 GHz processor,Seagate Barracuda 80GB HD(ATA100), generic 52x CD-ROM (running as master on 2nd IDE channel)and onboard LAN.
The operating system is Windows 2000 Pro with SP2 applied.
My question relates to running my HD in DMA mode.
When I check in Device manager my CD-ROM is running in DMA mode but my HD is listed as running in PIO.I have run siside.exe which came on the M/board drivers CD which is supposed to assist in getting DMA running but to no avail.I understand that my drive may actually be running in DMA mode but that sometimes Windows 2K reports incorrectly that it is still running PIO.
So my questions are,is there a way of checking absolutely which mode my HD is running and if it really is running PIO is there a way to set it to DMA.
Thanks in advance for your help.
