A simple question I can't find the answer to - I log out of KDE (I select log in as a different user) and instead of getting back to KDE I get a shell log in of some sort and after logging in I get to a shell [myname@mycomputer myname]$.

I don't want to mess things up here, so how the @%$ do i get back into KDE? startx? The Mandrake documentation has all sorts of info on GETTING to a shell, but have not yet found where it tells how to get OUT of a shell lol.

Thanks

Yes, startx will start the x server and [probably] take you right to the KDE desktop. Other things that you might want to do from where you are: logout, exit, shutdown. You can find out more about any of these commands by typing man [command] like: man shutdown. "Man" is the manual.

startx is probably the preferred method as smah says. However, you can type "xinit" and it should start. You can also type "init 5" which will reboot you into graphical mode. Good luck
