I've added a NetScout network traffic recording and analysis device to our network. With it I can get a list of all network conversations on our T-1's to the Internet and the traffic type, packets, volume and source and destination IP addresses for any minute in the last two weeks. For each of those I can do an nslookup to get the machine name and from that get the username of the person logged on to the machine. That lets me start to get a handle on who is using our network resources, and how.
Is there a utility or a script around someplace that I can use to get the usernames from the list? i.e. = point the script at a list of IP addresses and get back a list of usernames?
Other suggstions on approach?
