Get Section Name

Hi,
just trying to figure out if it is possible to get the current section value on a page into a cell on the page footer or header.

I have a report that is laid out so that 1 section will cover many pages - what I need to do is have the value of the section on that page to show in the header or footer. Section always starts on a new page so there would be no possibility of an overlap. Have had a look in the standard functions but couldn't find anything that looked like it would work....

Why not format the cell that is holding the section value to repeat on every page?
(that won't be new to you )
That is what BO will allow you to do (or duplicate it and paste it in the far end corner of the page.)
AFAIK showing it OUTSIDE the page will not work. But perhaps Steve will know a workaround

I don't know of any way to do it either. Sections are limiting.

Why do you need this? You can see the section value anyway. Does it matter if it's in the footer or header?

I tried Max(<Country>) in CurrentPage, but it didn't help.

This looks like a flaw to me. Headers and footers know what page this is, so they should be able to handle calculations as well.

yeah - that's what I thought - should work but doesn't...

Section value only changes once every 6 or 7 pages. Users want to print off multiple sections at a time but then get "confused" when they get back to the printer because the only way to identify which section the printout is from is to (shock, horror), keep them in order.....

In all seriousness, I can see why it would be useful to have some kind of marker that shows the section that the page belongs to - I was just hoping I wouldn't have to go to much effort to make it happen.

btw - reason I'm not just using a repeating cell is that the report is already written and it's a monster (18 seperate data providers). There are other tables that are set to start on a new page and if I had a cell doing that as well it would get complicated - one of those where it would work for 99% of cases but look horrible where it is overlapping an existing report element........%$^% 'em - they'll just have to count !!
