GET OS Version remotely

I am wanting to be able to pull the OS version from remote servers. I will be reading a text file to pull the server names.

I have not been able to find anything helpful on connecting to servers remotely to obtain the OS versio via VB .Net. I The OS's we will be scanning are Windows 2003 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 2000, Windows 2008 (32 and 64bit).

Is there any code out there that arleady does this remotely?

I'm not sure, but as this is sort of a systems administration problem, if you don't get any results here, try posting it in the VBScript forum as those guys are very good with these types of problems. It is also worth mentioning that you can usually translate VBScript over to VB.Net to get the same functionality.

I would look at the System.Managment namespace.

You will need to use the ConnectionOptions class to get the information. Once you have the context and permissions it should be a simple WMI query.
