Generally I don't promote anything related to AOL, but most of us know someone that won't give it up, no matter what. In any case, in the course of researching something else, I came across some interesting information. In the past, the only way to access AOL mail was using their proprietary software or the web interface. As of April, 2004 AOL mail can now be accessed by IMAP client software such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Entourage, Eudora, Incredimail, Evolution and many others. Please note that for SMTP sending, AOL uses port 587, not the usual 25.
