Generating a FORMATTED text file from a report

Greetings,

Presently, I have a report that functions as a receipt for customers. On activate the report is exported to a text file. (for speed purposes)

Is there ANY way to format this text file programmatically to make it a bit more presentable??

Essentially, what I'd like is to format the way in which the data is displayed or presentated and also put in a table-like structure (or a border).

Any suggestions?
