Hello,

I have recently decompiled an old foxpro 2.6 dos app and I no longer have the .scx screen files, only the .spr files. I need to reuse parts of the app but some screens need re-designing.

Is there some way I can recreate the .scx files from the compiled .spr files? I saw a previous post from someone who said they could email a program that could do it, but his email address is not recognised.

Anyone out there have a similar program?

Ta.

Is it actually REFOX itself that has this capability? I heard it was maybe a seperate program that ships with it. Its just that the guy who decompiled the orginal app for me using Refox says he cant get me the .scx files from the spr files. Maybe he doesnt know of this other tool.

Funny, it's been over a year since I used it so I wouldn't be able to step you through it. I no longer work for the company that needed to use it. Here is a pargraph from their website though:

Refox FoxPro 2.x Screen and Menu Recovery

Additional Refox tools are supplied for the recovery of FoxPro 2.x SCX and MNX screen and menu files from their source code equivalents. A FoxPro application reconstructs the files from SPR and MPR components created by Refox from FoxPro 2.x compiled code.

First of all, put all your .spr files in one common directory. Open Foxpro and from the command window, set the default directory to the refox app with "set defa to..". Then type "do?" and you will see a list of apps that comes with refox. Depending on which version of refox, look for "xprgen20.app" (for dos), xprgen25.app (for fpw) and so on.

Click on the appropriate app and it will ask for the directory of the spr to be decompiled. ("Where are SPR/MPR's") Send it to the directory of the spr you have set earlier and you should be on your way to recovery.

Thanks, I forwarded the name of the Refox app to the guy who decompiled the app for me. I have now been reunited with the original .sct files.

Thanks everyone.
