Generate Reports for SQL Server 6.5

Is there a easy way to generate reports for SQL Server 6.5, without using something like crystal reports ?

If you have MS Access, you can build a database in access w/linked tables to SQL Server. Then you can use the report wizards in Access to generate reports.

I don't think that this is easier than Crystal per se. I like Crystal but office is pretty common so you are probably familiar w/the interface, etc.

Or you can build reports and connect to the database through VB ( or any other language you like).
