I have created a report that reads information from our BackupExec database.

This shows me all the volumes backed on on each server, and how long they took.

One of the problems that I get is that people keep creating or removing drive partitions without telling me. As we have so many servers this becomes quite hard to manually check. So I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the following:

I have the professinal version of Crystal Reports. This has options to perform queries on almost anything including drive letters on remote servers. What I would like to happen is for Crystal to generate a list of volumes on each server LIVE. And then cross reference this with my exiting report which reads information from the backup database and show me what volumes we backed up the previous night.

I hopefully can do most of this myself.. I just need some detailed directions please.

PS: How come there is no USENET crystal reports forum ? [sig][/sig]

There are a couple of usenet forums on CR, but they are not carried by all servers.

Here are two public servers that offer crystal forums:

msnews.microsoft.com
(look under microsoft.public.VB.crystal)
news.cogniza.com
(This group has several forums)

Anyway, to answer your question.
I don't think it will be easy, and I can't give you detailed directions without going beyond what I can do here in the forum.

There is no feature that I know of that says, compare list a to be and find additions and deletions.

I would summarize the drives by server, and then run a linked subreport that does the same thing from the backup for each server. This way you have them side by side.
