Hello all, I have my tape drive set up to run an "unattended backup" every night. When I come back the next morning, I notice there are no messages at all to confirm if the backup was successfully performed or not. When I go to the Scheduled Tasks under the System Tools feature of my server, it is giving me a "Last Result" code of 0x65. Is that the code I should be seeing? Unfortunately, both Veritas and Windows provides me with no answers with checking to see if the backup was successfull.

Is there a better way of verifying if the data was backed up or not? Thanks in advance..

Check the activity monitor, it should tell you if it was successful or not.

Thanks comtec. I dont see the activity monitor anywhere however. Perhaps I have a later version of Backup Exec? All I can find is the Status and Result displays with the System Tools feature. Can you tell me where the activity monitor is located?

What version do you have? The interface should have tabs for Active Jobs, Media, Devices, etc.

Version 4.8

This version is pretty silly - it doesnt give the status or any other critical information.

If I want to upgrade, can I just download the latest off the internet or do I need to purchase the new software? Thanks...

I think you'll have to purchase a new version, that's a very old version and probably isn't supported any more. It might even be an artifact <GRIN>. Veritas is up to version 9 of Backup Exec.
