Someone sent me an app to try, but rather than the typical install exe I was expecting it is that other style of exe with the icon that looks like a boombox. When I click it, a commandline window pops up for a moment and disappears. How would I install this app?

general question about app instalation

Was this sent by someone you know? If you want to see what is in the black box that flashes up then try the following. Create a new folder on your C: drive called test
Copy the file into that folder.
Click on Start > Run
Type cmd and press OK
In the command prompt type cd\ then press return.
Then type c:\test\name of file then press return.
It should then go through the same process as before but will display any messages in the window you have open.
