General Linksys

I thumbed through it at Barnes and Noble and it seemed okay, but pricey.
The hard thing is to stay current, as particularly 802.11G products are becoming dominant very quickly, and there have been a lot of changes and peculiarities to G from all vendors, including Linksys.
A found it a little light on things that can be difficult: VPN support, good on security but light on actual WPA implementation, and out-of-date for most driver and feature changes.
But for the basics of 802.11b it seemed quite good.

I just saw a copy at my local library and spent some time reading it.
If the copy you are thinking about is "Linksys Networks, The Official Guide" by Kathy Ivens and Larry Seltzer, it is nearly worthless.
Perhaps it has been revised. The copy I had was purchased by the library in March, 2003 and has a copyright 2002.
There is no discussion of G networks, and little practical value in the discussion of other networks. You can go to the Linksys site and print out their documentation and get the same results as this book.
There is a different Linksys book and I do not remember the title. Look around some.
