General ACL Question

Hello All,
Im tryinh to add a ACL to my Cisco 2514 with IOS 12.2 fw and Its not working. When I enter:

(config)#ip access-list 101 deny icmp any any
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
I get that error. Any thoughts what Im doing wrong?

Change that to

(config)#access-list 101 deny icmp any any
