Hi,
I can't seem to open a MS access database (*.mdb file) located on our server. I keep getting the msg:
MSACCESS
error has occured in your program. click ignore to continue and save, click close to close program.

Which is followed by an illegal operation error that says in the details section:
general protection fault at module GDI.exe in section 0009:0000129e

which is followed by the simple error msg.:
can not find [path\my file] or one of its components

Here's what I have tried so far:
1.) reinstalled Access97
2.) purchased and installed Access2000
3.) tried to open database from another computer on our network; it opens just fine from their workstation
4.) tried copying database to my hard drive and accessing it, same error occurs.

This leads me to believe there is an error with my operation system which is Windows95 version 4.00.950c, but MS website is no help and I can't seem to be able to find info on this anywhere on the web. If anyone could help I would be very grateful thanks!

I suspect this is a font problem. You may have a damaged font in your fonts folder.
If you haven't already got it, get TweakUI. You can download it from many places on the net.
Run the program, then, under the 'Repair' tab there is a drop down list, one of the options on this list is 'Repair Font Folder' select this and then click on the repair now button, then restart windows.

Hope it works

unfortunately repairing the font folder did not fix my gdi.exe errors any other suggests?
