I have jsut got 2 new GBIcs fabric enabled 16 port modules and was wondering if there was any advantage / disadvantage in selecting the slot number. AS the switch fabric module has to go below slot 4 is it better to have the GBICS above or below them due to the way the buses are shared? Does it make any difference? Any help greatly appreciated.

If it is fabric enabled then it doesn't matter. Each slot has 2 dedicated 8Gbps (16Gbps full duplex) connections to the SFM. Now not all modules can take advantage of the dual connections and if you put a legeacy card (non-fabric enabled) then there is no since in having the SFM cause all modules will use the 32Gbps buss and your PPS will drop from 30Mpps to 15Mpps.
