When I received my solo 9100, it was running win2000 and the fan never worked. I upgraded to winxppro and still, the heat fan never worked. I was going to take it in for repairs, when I put a boot disk in, and miraculously, while the boot disk was running the computer (so I could use gateway's battery conditioning software) the fan worked like a champ. So, what I've gathered is that there is some incompatiblity with the bios and my operating system. Does anyone have a thought on this? Has anyone experienced this? I realize that this is an old computer, but it's a nifty laptop and I don't want to have to get rid of it. Thanks!

Go to the Gateway site and download any drivers that apply to the 9100. I had to d/l the full set to setup my 2500 after putting in 98SE.
