Hi all....I'm new to the forum but not new to PCs.

BUT....having been thrown a GATEWAY neo 1.2 to repair,I feel like I'm new to PCs !! This is an "all in one" model which has obviously ripped off the design of the Imac. Basically,it's a piece of shit which won't turn on at the power button.
My first thought was "FUSE" so I proceeded to unscrew all the hidden little screws and managed to separate the 2 halves (monitor and PC) The power supply is located in the top part with the monitor and here is the problem :
In order to access the Power supply,I need to remove the plastic cover. I've undone the appropriate screws but the cover is now only loose on one side. I assume there are clips or something to clip undone, but i can't seem to find them.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR ANY EXPERIENCE SERVICING THESE HORRENDOUS MACHINES????? ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS

PAUL

I feel for you...I just finished fighting with a VERY OLD computer myself...an all in one PCW-3 Minolta...same problems.

Have you tried here?

You can search by serial number, sometimes you get lucky...lol

Best of luck

Thanks Kimber, but yes,I have tried there...the darn thing doesn't even EXIST as far as they are concerned!

It's very well built---to the point where it's darned obvious they don't want anyone else to work on it :)Looks like I'm a tiny voice in the wilderness here.

I would imagine that you are working on this system for a customer.
Let them know your situation, and that the inconsequental components of the system may be damaged due to the age and lack of documentation.
If you let them know ahead, you wont have to be AS careful as you attempt disassembly.
It worked for me, and I was able to push, pull and pry without fear of breaking something. Eventually we got the thing apart...no easy task though. (five hours later)

I feel for you, best of luck

Thanks again Kimber...yeah it's for a customer who happens to be a programmer and the machine belongs to his girlfriend, who gave it to him to fix :)

HE looked at it and thought UH uh.... not my field....and it ended up in my lap. There are clips underneath the "handle" on top of the unit but it would take a specially designed tool or an orangutang to get in under the damned thing to be able to open the clips....hmmm maybe they had an orangutan at Gateway. That's it! YES! Now it all makes perfect sense!

PAUL :)
