Garbled transmission when accessing Voice Mail messages 1

Voicemail problem, but are the messages garbled and are alwasy garbled even when you listen to them a second time or is the connection to the VM a problem on one port?
If the messages are already recorded garbled then the Vm is on the way out, and seeing the age of that thing it is quite possible.
