Has anyone heard any news as to what features will be added to Release 10? I can't seem to find any info on it. Thanks in advance.

There are two I know of for sure. They are UDP and telecommuting are now standard on all Definity platforms.

Feature enhancements

EC500 R3

Avaya EC500 Extension to Cellular (Avaya EC500) is a mobility solution that enables employees to be easily reached through one number availability – “Anytime, Anywhere”. The Avaya EC500 utilizes Avaya Call Processing software and the “X-Mobility” feature to transparently bridge calls placed to an office number to a cell phone. Some enhancements included in Release 3 are:

o Call Origination Mapping – When an EC500 wireless phone user is on or off premise and placing a call to a user within their DEFINITY network, the Name and Number of the EC500 user will be displayed Prior to R3, just the 10 digit ANI of the cell phone was shown. This is also helpful since the name of the principal will now display on voice mail message headers, allowing the user to quickly distinguish the importance of the message.
o 2nd Call via Service Provider (SP) provided call waiting
o Coordination of SP and Enterprise Voice Mail thru call supervision via PRI Trunk
o Easy access to AUDIX from cell phone (# to bypass extension)
o Call Mapping Modes (Orig/Term/Both/Neither)
o Enhanced Administration for Large Number of EC500 Stations – Duplicate station capability allows administrator to copy station parameters to quickly add new users. X-Station type (required for EC500) can now take advantage of the duplicate station capability for bulk administration.
o Display of EC500 State on “Status Station” Form – Shows status of all EC500 extensions
o X-Station RTU Report on “Display Capacities” Form – Tells customer how many EC500 users are administered on their DEFINITY.
o List all XMOBILES Associated with a Cell Phone – Tells customer which extension(s) a particular cell phone user is using.

Enhanced Conferencing

Avaya is enhancing conferencing capabilities on Avaya Call Processing servers to remain competitive in the market place. Phase 1 in R10 focuses on user interface improvements. Human factors studies have shown that competitive products like Nortel Meridian, allow a more simplified approach to establishing conferences. The enhancements with R10 bring Avaya to parity in ease of use and in some cases they give Avaya a competitive edge.

No Dial Tone Conferencing and Select Line Appearance – On pre-R10 systems, if the user is in a conversation on line “b” and has another line on hold or an incoming call ready to be conferenced together on line “a”, pressing the “CONF” button will generate Dial Tone and a new, idle line “c”. The user must then press the idle line appearance “a” and “CONF” again to bridge the conference. Together, No Dial Tone Conferencing and Select Line Appearance simplify these steps. If you are in a conversation on line “b” and you have another line on hold or an incoming call is alerting on line “a”, then when you press the “CONF” button the conference will be bridged together. Alternatively, the user will have the option of pressing a line appearance button to complete a conference instead of hitting “CONF” a second time. This feature only applies if the line is placed in soft hold by the press of the “CONF” button. This feature never applies if the soft hold was due to the press of a “Transfer” button.

If you have many lines on hold then you can conference with whichever held party you chose.
The choice of whether to activate the features depends on what is most logical or comfortable for the customer. Each is controlled on a system wide basis on the “system-parameters features” form.

Hold/Unhold - Allows user to use the “HOLD” button to bring the held party back to the conversation. This is an alternative to using the line appearance button in pre-R10 systems. Hold/Unhold only applies if there is only one line on hold and no other line appearances are active. An error message will be displayed if the “unhold” is attempted when not allowed. This feature is not available for BRI stations or attendant consoles.

Station Lock

Station Lock allows users to lock their phones, locally or remotely, to prevent unauthorized outgoing calls. It can be activated via a feature button or feature access code. Visual or audible indication is given when the phone is locked. Activation/deactivation can be accomplished via a FAC (or feature button) and security code. When the feature is active, the Class of Restriction (COR) is based on the Station Lock COR. Station Lock cannot be activated for attendant console.

Malicious Call Trace

This feature allows a user to request that the source of an incoming call over an ETSI ISDN-PRI trunk is identified and registered in the network. ETSI stands for European Telecommunication Standards Interface and ETSI PRI Trunks are used primarily in EMEA. This feature should be used in scenarios when a call needs to be traced back to its source. This feature is activated using an existing mct-act button or a feature access code for MCT.

Terminals

With ACP R10 the following endpoints will be natively supported:

eConsole
The Avaya eConsole 1.0 is a new next generation software application attendant solution for Avaya Call Processing customers. It builds upon the success of previous attendant solutions; PC Console Release 2.5 and the 302B Attendant Console.

In addition to supporting the DEFINITY attendant capabilities, eConsole 1.0 improves the user experience through a new user interface, a comprehensive setup wizard, email integration and enhanced directory capabilities.

The new architecture supports standards based integration of applications to deliver enhanced functionality. It is a Windows™ NT/2000/XP based “soft” attendant console, which emulates the 302B Attendant Console. Its connectivity to the DEFINITY can be either IP (must be R10) or DCP (R9 or greater). For DCP connectivity, the attendant’s PC will connect into a CallMaster VI or PassageWay device. The voice will be carried via the attendant’s headset plugged into the phone. IP connectivity is the same as IP Softphone. The attendant’s headset will plug into the PC sound card. R10 Avaya Call Processing software supports the eConsole in native mode.

4630 IP Screenphone
The IP4630 is a new screenphone with a bright color touch screen display and five screen-based applications. The applications are:

1) Phone – Provides a feature rich phone application supporting:
· Up to 5 call appearances
· Optional edit dialing control (allows user to dial and edit number before any digits are outpulsed)
· Up to 21 administrable feature buttons, on multiple pages accessed by a “More” Button
· Optional auto-display for incoming calls
· Redial option for last 8 numbers or last 1 number
2) Speed Dial – 120 buttons supported in 5 groups of 24 each
3) Call Log – Up to 100 entries, displayed six at a time
4) Directory – Uses LDAP Version 3
5) Web Access – Customer can build “corporate” websites for 4630 access

In addition, the screen phone has two Ethernet ports, a headset jack, and an IrDA interface. Avaya Call Processing R10 Software is required for native support; however, it can be aliased as a 4624 on R9 with fewer feature buttons.

Provisioning Changes

Remote Feature Activation (RFA)

Remote Feature Activation (RFA) is a tool that will support Avaya’s strategic direction to evolve from hardware-based solutions to software-based solutions. RFA will provide a standard process and infrastructure for provisioning and securing software license files.

It is a web-based application that will be utilized by Avaya provisioning associates and Business Partners to download license files to all R10 and later switches. The process will provide a secure way to activate features. In its initial phase, RFA will support DEFINITY, DEFINITY Call Center features, Special Applications and other RTU’s administered on the customer option screen for the following platforms:
· DEFINITY G3csi, si and r
· DEFINITY One
· IP600

RFA will force changes to software provisioning practives and installation using license files. A valid SAP order will be required to create a license file in RFA. Once the order is created, a technician or Business Partner can access the RFA tool in order to generate the license file and then deliver it to a DEFINITY or IP600 system.

Watch out for separate announcements regarding training on Remote Feature Activation and other information. Also check the Avaya intranet or the Business Partner website regularly for information, news and update around RFA.

Pricing & Product Restructuring

With release 10 of Avaya Call Processing the product and pricing structure will be changed:

First of all with R10 the following features have been added to the basic software:
· Uniform Dialplan
· Telecommuting – note: for offer category B, Telecommuting remains an optional feature
· Hospitality

In addition the current structure of port sensitive pricing will change. Instead of increments of 100 additional ports, with R10 increments are with 25 additional ports. The initial base software will contain 100 ports right to use.

A separate announcement will be send out which will explain the product and pricing restructuring in detail.
