I have a g-3 si r8 and a map 100p that gets loan data from the AS400. I am in need of more channels between the map100 and the IBM, we now have a 5250 connection with 7 channels. This as you can quess is a bottle neck point for us. What can I use to have more channels? Can I go over the network for this? I would like if I can get away from the 5250 connection. Look!!! I assume from your description that you are using LU's on the AS400. The board on the MAP 100 will support 32 LU's newer one up to 64. You would have to configure the controller on the AS400 to add the new terminal sessions. You would then have to do the additional setup on the MAP100 to get the matching number of sessions. I don't have it handy but it is in documentation as to how the additional sessions can be added. Hope this helps

Thanks

I'm sorry What is a LU? This system has been in place before I got here. I will look into the ELMO for the DOC. Look!!! New Buttons

OK the LU runs between the Switch and the IVR and can have up to 32 connections. My bottle neck is between the IVR and the AS400 on the 5250 conntection it only has 7. I know I can add a new 5250 for about $25k. OUCH Look!!! New Buttons

Sorry. LU is a Logical Unit, or a session on the controller (old 3270). By LU I ment a 5250 term session. With your current card you should be able to have 32 5250 sessions active. The 7 connections you have now can be increased with software programming only. No additional hardware would be required. New 5250 sessions addded to the MAP 100 and a like number of 5250 terms added to the controller on the AS400. Hope this helps

Thanks
Chris
