geforce fx5600 i have to boot machine in safe mode, then re-install drivers, then everything will work, that is, until a couple of re-starts and then have to do it all again as the video drivers disappear. video card was fine in last machine , as I have just upgraded, amd64 new mobo, memory hard drive etc, tried the new geforce drivers also tried working my way back with older drivers, but it still does the same, anyone got any idea"s about this. the op system is windows xp.

You have something in there conflicting with the driver, most likely it's another driver. You can also check in the bios for a setting that says, plug and play OS. if it is enabled, try disabling it,if it is disabled try enabling it.

I shall use google before asking stupid questions!

managed to solve it, nothing to do with bad drivers or bios settings, just plain and simple, a faulty video card, although at the time didn"t have another card on hand to try, and thanks to rclarke for the reply.
