Who has used fusebox and what is your opinion of it? I see a fair number of CF jobs that require fusebox experience.

Cheers,

i've never used it, but it seems a "codecharge-like" app for CF. a bunch of built in wizards and stuff. I think it's supposed to take the development out of it.

If you don't ask the right questions, you don't get the right answers. A question asked in the right way often points to its own answer. Asking questions is the ABC of diagnosis. Only the inquiring mind solves problems.

All pages and scripts are loaded through includes from controllling scripts. there is a set of core files that aid in the structure of the 'fuses' and 'circuits'

As far as pros and cons, I've never looked into it that far.

Read through the docs and examples to see if it would help a project your working on, I'd say try it on a smaller project and test it out. See how it works for you. I keep meaning to myself...

We use our own version of fusebox all of the time and it works a treat. Some of the parts are overkill and we have dropped them, but the basic idea of fuses and circuits we have stuck with. The only problem is that when we are trying to track an error from the error logs, as the error is reported to be in index.cfm! so tracking down a error in one of the fuses is a real pain

Hope this helps!

Tony

I still use my old simplified version of fusebox 2.0, before they introduced a bunch of tags and xml files and weird obfuscation.. It does make some things easier, but adds maybe 10% to up front development time, but it usually pays off in the end for even a medium scale project

DeadlyViper, you hit the nail right between the eyes with that error comment! I have a bug in my code somewhere in a 660 .cfm file application with well over 20,000 lines of code, and when I look in the logs, everything goes through index.cfm, so it's completely utterly 100% useless
