I was shipped an Excel spreadsheet and strange things happen. When I try to format some of the cells, the format dialog box opens and it has chosen a locale of Danish.

Other cells open with English (US) when I click on them and do the format cells operation.

Any ideas as to why? Any ideas as to how to set everything to a locale of English?

My system locale is set properly. I'm running WinXP with ExcelXP.

thanks.

dean12,

I am assuming that you are doing a custom format, if so if you proceed your custom format with a # sign it should take care of it.

For example if you were doing a custom format of 0000000000 excel 2002 would change this to a Special Format of a Polish social security number, but if you do #0000000000 it would stay a custom format. Hope this helps.

Regards -
