Does anyone know of a online tutorial on how to make a ftp webpage in DreamWeaver 4?

Thanks

Do you mean a tutorial on how to use ftp to upload your pages? If not, can you elaborate on what you're wanting to do?

Thank you for responding. What I want to do is make a ftp webpage where I can place files for clients to download and they can also place files for me to download. I know it's easier to do this by just using email but, often times the files are large and my clients IPS will only allow a certain amount Megabytes they will accept and I thought this would solve the problem. Any info on this subject would be great.

krysten,
Do you have an ftp server set up? If so, all you have to do is point your browser at the ftp server ... i.e. instead of point the browser to ftp://ftp.mycompany.com (or whatever the url of your ftp server is). No development necessary.

Sorry to sound so stupid but, no I don't have a ftp server setup. How would I go about setting one up.

Thank You Very Much For Your Response

I noticed this page on shareware ftp servers - I've no idea if this is the sort of thing you'll need:

If not, then do you really need ftp to allow your users to download files? Maybe you could get around the problem by zipping the files - you'd then put a link to the file on your page so that the visitor could right-click and choose Save Target As...

If the files are too big to even do that then certain zipping programs and other software (such as FileSplit Pro, which I use) will allow you to split a file into a number of smaller pieces. They can then be downloaded faster and then recombined again by the user (who doesn't necessarily need the program to do this). Check out the shareware sites as there are several programs that do this, some of which are completely free.
