FTP Server on XP????

does XP automatically block outsiders from accessing ur computer??? i just upgraded to XP and now my ftp doesn't work. it worked perfectly fine before the upgrade... any suggestions???

by the way... i'm using a linksys 4 port router... i heard that ppl had problems with this combination, i dunno. thanks

Have you enabled the firewall.....if so you should edit it to allow ftp....or http for that matter if you are running a web server as well....

Or did you add your "router" (which is probably a NAT) since the last time FTP worked?

Hopefully the Linksys will let you map FTP through (tricky for a simple NAT) or perhaps let you put your XP box with the FTP server running "in the DMZ."

i agree. not a lot of protocols are installed by xp setup. you have to install the protocols that you want to use. check to see if all the required protocols are installed and properly configured.
If you sting me, I won't mind.
