Hi

If anyone is familiar with this message please pass on the info

"Dreamweaver cannot determine the remotee server time. The select newer and synchronize commands will not be available."

I've looked through my two dreamweaver books and I've searched the marcomedia website

thanks

Sounds like the problem might apply more to your server than to Dreamweaver. I have never encountered this. Who is your server with? Perhaps try contacting them with the problem...

I have been having my own problem with ftp in dreamwvr. It will not allow me to connect at all with the ftp address I give it. I have called my host and reconfirmed the info, and what I put in the server box was correct. So, where do I go now?

Cara -

I get the same thing with my RedHat 7 server. Hasn't really bothered me yet -- I think DW in this case defaults to uploading the entire site each time, rather than just the files that have changed.

I've found that the built in FTP client in DW is by far the worst feature of the program. I have quite using it entirely. I fire up dreamweaver, and then start WS_FTP (a free FTP program). You can, of course, choose whichever FTP program you like.

One nice bonus of this arrangement is that I can continue working on the site in DW while the FTP program transfers my site in the background.

I am also having many problems FTPing my site, through the Dreamweaver 4 client. I encounter this consistent problem:

In the FTP log I get the following: "200 NOOP command successful" followed by: "421 No transfer timeout, closing control connection." Internet connection and host server are fine.

I changed the FTP timeout setting from 60 to 120 seconds. Didn't work.

Another peculiarity that might be connected: I changed the file names of the site to lowercase. This was reflected in Windows Explorer and on my site assets. However, for some reason, the Site Map, still shows the names of the old files (non-existent).

When I do a F12 to see how the site works - everything is fine.

What is going on here? Why does it keep timing out? Why doesn't SiteMap reflect the new file names? Are these connected somehow?

Will using WS_FTP help?
