Just finished a new build for a friend all went well but I'm a bit confused about front panel audio connections
and would very much appreciate some help

mobo headers MIC2 o o AGND
MICPWR o o +5VA
Line out_R o o BLINE_OUT_R
NC o
Line out_L o o BLINE_OUT_L

case connecters

MIC-IN (RED)
MIC VCC (WHITE)
GROUND (BLACK)
RETURN L (YELLOW)
RETURN R (WHITE)
EAR L (BLUE)
EAR R (RED)

Connect as follows:-

MIC-IN (RED) = MIC2
MIC VCC (WHITE) = MICPWR
GROUND (BLACK) = AGND
RETURN L (YELLOW) = Line out_L
RETURN R (WHITE) = Line out_R
EAR L (BLUE) = BLINE_OUT_L
EAR R (RED) = BLINE_OUT_R

I think you'll probably find that the case front wires (RETURN L) Yellow and (EAR L) Blue are connected together, and ditto (RETURN R) and (EAR R). Your motherboard probably has jumpers across Line out_L and BLINE_OUT_L and ditto Lineout_R and BLINE_OUT_R. With no wires attached or jumpers in place, you'll probably get no sound out of the rear speaker connections. So attaching all your wires will give you the option of sound available at the rear or front jacks.
