We recently purchased a system for security using an AMD Athlon computer running XP Home. However, I would like too hook this computer up to the Windows 2000 network. I would like to get the computer running 2000 Professional like most of the other computers here. Do I have to buy the full blown 2000 Professional license for this computer to get a disk to load it or do I get some kind of discount since I am licensed for XP Home and am downgrading to 2000 Professional? I usually load 2000 on my XP machines using the Dell Reinstall Disk (unfortunately, this is not a dell).

Unfortunately, the downgrade to W2K is from XP Pro, not XP Home. What you might look into is upgrading your XP Home to XP Pro, which then gets you the "downgradability" that you seek.
