I recently purchased a HP Pavilion 510n that came with XP pre-installed. It also came with a Philips CD-R/RW drive. I formatted the hard drive and put Win2K on it. I have everything up and running except the CD-RW. I can read from it, and it has a valid driver but Adaptec's Easy CD-Creator does not recognize the Philips CD-R/RW as a valid burner. I tried contacting both, HP and Philips, only to get the run around saying I had to talk to the other. (Like I was expecting anything else.) My question is, if I purchased a different burning software would that solve my problem, or does anyone know where I can get an updated driver for my CD-R/RW? Yes, I have already looked on Microsoft's, Philip's, and HP's driver websites only to run into dead ends.

Thank you in advance.

What version of Easy CD creator are you using. I had W2K installed on my Dell with an HP CD-RW and was running Easy CD Creator 3 with no problems. I then did a clean install of XP and had to upgrade to Easy CD 5 Platinum and everything works fine now.

Also, have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the version of Easy CD Creator you are currently running?

I have installed the current patches and when I installed Win2K it was on a black Hard drive. I wiped out everything OEM put on it when I got it. Removed the partition and everything. So this is a fresh copy of Easy CD-Creator with the current patch.

If you have the latest installed and patches and you are still having a problem, then I would go to another software program. You can also use to download many programs such as CD creator programs to try before you go and purchase anything. Just to make sure it will fix your problem.
