From Premiere to tape..

This is a bit tricky (stepping in in the middle of a thread and not knowing where it started)... I'm assuming you're exporting edited video to tape and you're getting hiccups (my own term).
Try any (or all) of these.
1. Make sure that the only program you're running is Premiere. Shut down your network connection, shut down any applets you've got running in the tray... shut it all down.
2. If you've got more than one hard drive, make sure the video you're exporting is on a different drive than where premiere is installed. Different partitions on the same drive won't make a difference.
3. Defragment your drive before exporting. For best results you should probably do this before capturing too.
If all these fail, you may need to get a more powerful system. I used to use a 1 GHz system with 512 mb RAM, a 20 gb system drive (for my apps) and a 40 gb video drive. The video drive was blazingly fast and I'd still get hiccups if I left my network connection open, I didn't defrag or the file was large (anything over 15 minutes). The system I use now is easily double the old one (dual 2GHz, 1 gb RAM, 40 & 80 gig drives) and I still see hiccups on rare occasions.
