Windows 98se on HP desktop 600 MHz.
After fitting a new PS/2 mouse, windows freezes on completion of start up.
Works OK in Safe Mode and DOS.
Alternative PS/2 mouse - same thing.
Alternative COM1 mouse - same thing.
Disabled allbut systray in msconfig - same thing.
Device Manager had numerous entries for mouse, keyboard and many other groups - removed them all, restarted, found new hardware, found drivers, restarted, same thing.
Starting Logged doesn't produce C:\bootlog.txt (odd!)

Look in System.ini under Msconfig for;
under
[boot]
mouse.drv=mouse.drv
[boot description]
mouse.drv=Standard mouse
[386Enh]
mouse=*vmouse,msmouse.vxd

As far as the Bootlog.txt;
dunno....
Do a find for bootlog.txt on your HDD, as your [paths] statements in msdos.sys may be wrong....
and/or Try to create a blank one first,restart,choose again..
