Freeing a port 1

hi all,
i want to configure a mail proxy server in windows 2000 server.but the proxy server cant bind itself to port 110.when did a port scan i found out that 110 was already being used by a pop3 protocol.the thing is which pop3 protocol is using this port? is this something which comes along with the OS? If it is the case how do i free the port?i couldnt find anything running as a service.Exchange server isnt installed. please... help me.

looks like u are another victim of
norton antivirus e-mail protection.
if this is the case turn of the e-mail protection ;-)
