Freehand v. Illustrator

I am trying to determine the best design software for use at my office. I work for the government so every purchase needs to be justified and justified. Plus, I want what is going to be most useful for my needs. In any case, I was about sold on Illustrator but need a little more info on how it compares to Freehand. The majority of design projects will be in web design and not for print media. We use Dreamweaver as the web development tool so I'm thinking Freehand may interface better with Dreamweaver. I would appreciate any input, ideas, views on how the products compare and what would be best for my graphic needs. Thanks!

All of Macromedia products integrate nicely with each other. Freehand also works with Adobe files too (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) I've used a lot of both Adobe and Macromedia products over the years. I recommend them both highly but in a lot of ways Macromedia products are easier to use, without sacrificing professional capabilities. If you're making graphics and graphic elements for web use only, you would want to take a look at Macromedia's Fireworks; it integrates (and was made specifically to work with) Dreamweaver.

Im an graphic arts teacher, I use both Freehand and Illustrator I would think that Illustrator would be the best way to go.
Its easy to learn and it works well in dreamweaver.
