I have a FPW 2.6 app that is running under NT 4.0. Had been working without problem. I've determined that problem is that FPW won't load.

Running FPW itself the initial Fox display screen will show and at the point where the command window and main screen should appear everything disappears. No errors or anything, just quits. Checking the task manager shows no FoxPro. The Event Viewer shows nothing. It's as if there should be a READ EVENTS but no longer exists.

I have no problems with WIN95/98/98SE.

The machine where the problem is occuring is a:

Pentium II 233MHz
192Megs of memory

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Raz

Did you recently make any hardware upgrades? (CPU speed, motherboard/BIOS?) Are you using the "high-speed" patched version of Foxw2600.esl? Have you tried replacing the application code and/or the FP runtime files with backup copies?

Hi Razzio,

You don't explain but I suspect you've installed win2k ? Or is it only under nt4.0 ?
I've had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago.
Workin in win98se without any problem, updated to win2k, no problem for weeks and one day, suddenly, fox 2.6a doesn't load anymore ... No explaination, no error in event viewer, nada...

I've reinstalled fox twice, applied all patches, no way.
I've then reinstalled win2k over itself, doesn't work.
The only way to succeed was the hard way... Backup, fdisk, reinstall win2k, reinstall fox 2.6, apply all patches... and it works for weeks now !))))

I have thought of a problem concerning the config.nt and autoexec.nt used by win2k but not able to repair.

Well, the scenario is not easy but optimistic... there is a way through !)

Keep smiling, hope this help ^_^

I think I have found a possible solution. It seems that by adding the following two lines to the AUTOEXEC.NT file in the \WINNT\SYSTEM32 folder.

lh %SystemRoot%\system32\nw16
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\vwipxspx

I don't know why this would make a differnce?

Now that apps loads I'm getting an I/O Error.

I have all the the patches for foxpro2.6 installed and I have rebuilded the app to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Raz
