I have some "ancient" FPW2.6 Help files compiled under the MS Help authoring tool and using an hpj file. These will not run from within the applications under WinXP. They will run perfectly if called directly from the desktop. Anyone know how to fix this? It is particulalry annoying since many of my help topics are context sensitive and of course they cant operate properly except from within the app.

Look for some hardcoded paths, or something in the command line. I have had issues with XP also, along the lines of this. The WINDIR directory, where the help stuff may be trying to run is different on different OS's:

On NT or 2K
?GETENV('WINDIR') returns 'C:\WINNT'

On 95 0r 98
?GETENV('WINDIR') returns 'C:\WINDOWS'

On XP
?GETENV('WINDIR') returns 'C:\WINDOWS'

This is relevant because using 95 or 98, most executables are located in the WINDOWS directory. On NT/2K, they are in the \WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory. XP puts them in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory so if something is looking for say a WINDOWS directory, it will be there but the required files may be at a different level.
