My company is considering three ERP systems, two written in C++ and Oracle, the third in Foxpro. As the cost of the first two is high, they are leaning on the older Foxpro application, which is not a true client/server product. What performance can I expect using the Foxpro app on an NT system? Any pointers/tips will be much appreciated.

One cannot straightaway point out 'this is better or that is better'. In performance as well !. I for one have replaced an ORACLE system with a FoxPro system (leave alone the VFP available today), and produced reports several times faster than ORACLE !. I am for sure, the ORACLE programmers did a bad job of that! SO surely one cannot comment just like that.

So the expected size in DATA volume couple of years down the road, the complications involved etc decides the issue. But an investment in VFP will surely can be used in a upsized way, be it in SQL or other backend servers, if need arises. As VFP in the front end, there is nothing to worry about that.
