Foxpro 2.6a inkey nor work in background in Win98

I have a one problem
i use foxpro DOS 2.6a
every 5 minutes a litle program execute various line code
while the program run in foreground in win98 run ok, but in background de timer freeze
i use de inkey(1) instrucction
and wait timeout 1 , and the same result, in background don't work the timer,

Please, any idea

DOS programs simply don't run in the background, this was a conscious decision made by Windows OS designers. Since in a true DOS environment only one program is really running, it can't be in the background!

Perhaps you could use the Windows Scheduler to fire up the FPD program every 5 minutes. Or you could convert the program to FPW or VFP.

But i use Clipper 5.2 DOS with the same code and this executable run in background in Win98 environment, the inkey function run ok, but in foxpro 2.6 DOS only this INKEY function and Timeout in WAIT freeze in background, All other work fine in background, in this moment i resolved my problem with external little program, and use a run instruction but i don't like this solution, not a professional tip!

check the properties on your desktop link to foxpro is background allowed?
if it is to be it's up to me
