What can bee wrong.

Roger

Roger,
I'm not sure what causing you problems, I'm running XP Pro SP 1 with all the current Windows updates and having no problems with FP 2.0, FPD&W 2.5b, FPD&W 2.6a and VFP 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Have you installed the High Speed CPU patch on FPW 2.6a? If not, do a Search (above), there are a number of threads on this - especially if you are getting a Divide by Zero error in the startup.

Yes, i have installed FPD&W 2.6a. Foxpro freezes in startup, and i never enters the command window.

What i did to get this error where installing
WindowsXP-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe first and then
Windows-KB833330-ENU.exe
both files where dowladed from Microsoft

I changed MEMLIMIT in config.fpw from
MEMLIMIT=80,2048,8192 to
MEMLIMIT=60,2048,8192 and i got in.

Deinstall FPW2.6a and reinstall FPW2.6a
That should do the job.

Rob.

Rob,
I've found that the official install has a similar "High Speed CPU" problem on some systems. In the past 4-5 years, I simply copy the FPW files from one (working) system to another and have never had a problem under any OS. (Note: Since we had originally purchased FP DOS and Windows from Fox Software with an "unlimited" developer license, we was "grandfathered" under the agreement to allow this type of licensing from Microsoft.)

Rick

Double check your rights on the machine too. Since you probably had to install the service packs with admin access, they may have twiddled with some of your access to certain folders.
