Foxpro 2.5 on XP

I have an old Foxpro 2.5b app which runs OK on W98. However, when I try to run on XP I get a message which says that the ESO and ESL files do not match. The foxd250b.eso is dated 1999 and the 2 ESL files are dated 1993.

What is the function of these files? When I revert the ESO file to one dated 1993 (from another app) the application seems to function OK.

I have tried the XP Compatibility options, but to no avail.

These files are the 2.5b runtime support files.
FOXDX25B.ESL - Extended Memory model file
FOXD250B.ESL - Standard and Expanded Memory model file (1)
FOXD250B.ESO - Standard and Expanded Memory model file (2)
All three of my files are dated 9/28/1993.

It could be that the "mismatched" file is 2.5 or 2.5a - no explaination on the date.
