I've found a software to generate some reports that I couldn't create using CR. RPV/REPORT

Looks like a possible solution for small businesses/personal use, I suspect resources are a bit thin yet.

The main difference is that this tool does not connect to databases. It is designed to read ascii and text files that are generated from a program. This isn't clear until you get to the FAQ page.
